xAI Grok 3 Mini

Set reasoning_effort to “high” on xAI’s grok-3-mini-fast model for deeper reasoning before it answers.

1. Add the following code to your Python file

   xai.py

   from agno.agent import Agent
   from agno.models.xai import xAI
   from agno.tools.yfinance import YFinanceTools
   
   agent = Agent(
       model=xAI(id="grok-3-mini-fast", reasoning_effort="high"),
       tools=[YFinanceTools()],

2. Set up your virtual environment

   Mac

   uv venv --python 3.12
   source .venv/bin/activate
   
3. Install dependencies

   uv pip install -U agno openai yfinance
   
4. Export your xAI API key

   Mac/Linux

     export XAI_API_KEY="your_xai_api_key_here"
   
5. Run Agent

   python xai.py
